GENERAL CONFERENCE INFORMATION
TRANSPORTATION: Denver International Airport (DIA), located approximately 25 miles from the Hyatt DTC, is the closest airport. Taxis, Uber and Lyft are all available from DIA. Denver Light Rail service also is available from DIA to the Hyatt DTC. Click HERE for more information about fares and schedules. Please note that, recently, rail service in Denver has been experiencing a driver shortage and schedules often change.
COLORADO WEATHER: Spring in Colorado can be unpredictable. As the conference nears, we will keep you updated on the forecast. We advise planning to dress in layers, and be sure to bring a coat.
CONFERENCE AGENDA: The 2020 Annual Conference officially begins Friday morning at 7:30 a.m. and ends on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. We strongly suggest that your travel plans permit you to attend all conference activities, including the pre-conference Meet & Greet Dinner on Thursday evening, 6-8:30 p.m., and the Sunday morning peer session, 9:00 a.m.-1 p.m., both of which offer valuable opportunities to spend quality time learning from and bonding with others in the PSC community. Check out the 2020 PSC Partners Conference Agenda. Check out the Speaker Bios – 2020 Conference, as well, to find out more about the experts speaking at this year’s conference.
PEER GROUPS: Whether this is your first conference or you are a veteran attendee, you will be assigned to a peer group that meets at various times throughout the weekend. These groups convene to offer invaluable support and camaraderie focused on the identified interest of the group. Whether you are a Teen PSCer, a Spouse, a Post-Transplant PSCer, a Caregiver, or fit into another category, there is a supportive peer group for you. Watch this video to hear from a conference attendee who keeps coming back to the conference, because it feels like family.
MENTOR/MENTEE: If you are a first-time attendee (either a PSCer or a caregiver), we suggest that you request a mentor when you fill out your registration form. We will match you with someone from your peer group. Prior to the conference, we encourage you to communicate with your mentor to get many of your questions answered. You will meet your mentor on Friday, and have more time to talk either on the bus to Red Rocks or during Friday’s lunch. Watch this video to hear a PSCer from a past conference talk about the importance of mentors.
TEEN/COLLEGE-AGED PROGRAMS: We have organized some fun activities specifically for the teens and interested college-aged participants attending the conference. More details will be sent to these peer groups. Watch this video to hear about activities and support for teens and young adults.
ATTENDEES: The nature of all conference activities is exclusively directed towards PSC patients and caregivers 13 years of age and older. No one under the age of 13 may attend any part of the conference, including meals. There are no exceptions. Meals are restricted for registered attendees only.
CONFERENCE LOCATION: Most of the weekend activities take place at the Hyatt Denver Tech Center (DTC), located at 7800 E. Tufts Ave., Denver, CO 80237, which is the conference hotel. You will NOT need a car. Except for Friday brunch (which will take place at Red Rocks Amphitheater), all official conference meetings and meals will be held at the Hyatt DTC.
IMPORTANT HOTEL INFORMATION: Most attendees will stay at the conference hotel, the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center, located at 7800 East Tufts Avenue, Denver, CO 80237. There is a Hyatt Regency Downtown as well, so please be sure you are going to the Denver Tech Center (DTC)!
We are pleased to offer a discounted group rate for conference attendees. The Hyatt has set up a personalized group page for conference attendees to reserve discounted hotel rooms. To take advantage of our special group rate of $119 per room, per night plus taxes, please click HERE to book your room. If additional reservation assistance is needed, please call 888-421-1442. Be sure to let them know you are part of the PSC Partners Conference group, if you call the reservations line.
These group rates are available to our conference attendees from April 20-27, 2020, in the event that you would like to extend your stay before or after the conference. The special room rate will be available until April 3, 2020, or until the group block is sold out, whichever comes first. After April 3rd, the discounted group rate will only be offered depending on availability and prevailing rates. It is strongly advised that you make reservations as soon as possible to take advantage of the group rate.
CONFERENCE CHECK-IN: There will be a PSC Partners registration desk located in the Atrium of the Hyatt DTC, from Thursday morning (4/23/2020) through Saturday afternoon (4/25/2020). Stop by to pick up your conference materials and nametag, which must be worn to all events, including the Thursday evening dinner, so other PSCers can recognize you as a conference attendee. Your nametag will also serve as your ticket for all conference sessions, meals, and snacks.
PRE-CONFERENCE MEET & GREET DINNER, PANERA RESTAURANT, THURSDAY APRIL 23, 6-8:00 p.m.: Please consider arriving in time for the Thursday evening pre-conference gathering. This year’s kick-off event is at Panera Restaurant, 4955 S. Ulster St., Denver. (Just a five minute walk from the conference hotel. The location is circled in blue on the map above.) This event is a self-paid meal that is not included in your registration fee. Panera is donating 20% of the total meal to PSC Partners. You must show a flyer (either electronic or paper version) when ordering your food. Find an electronic version of the Panera Flyer here, print it yourself, or ask one of the PSC Partners staff members for a printed copy. You do not need to pre-register for this event.
This dinner is a fun conference kick-off and a great way for new attendees and veteran conference goers to connect with other PSCers and caregivers before the more formal conference starts on Friday.
FRIDAY MORNING RED ROCKS OUTING: We are excited to offer a field trip to the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater, just 40 minutes from the conference hotel. Transportation and a fabulous brunch are provided. Pre-registration is required. Seating is limited. First come, first served. Be sure to register and bring your ticket. We will load the buses at 7:45 a.m., and return to the conference hotel at 1 p.m. Spring weather in Colorado can be unpredictable. To make the most of this outing, layer your clothing, bring a warm coat, wear comfortable shoes, and bring a water bottle.
SATURDAY EVENING GALA: When you’re packing for the 2020 conference, don’t forget to bring some banquet attire! As returning conference attendees know, Saturday night is a celebration of our amazing community, and a much-needed chance for lightheartedness and fun after a full day of educational sessions. This year, we will be Celebrating The Summer Olympics. We encourage everyone to show their PSC Partners’ spirit by coming dressed in the theme-inspired garb of choice. Whether you are the gold medal winner for solo synchronized swimming, get together with a group and dress up like the medal contenders for the Luxembourg croquet team, or come dressed as badminton birdies (like the above photo), creativity and humor are appreciated – the tackier the better. Medals will be awarded! We also have karaoke during the final night soiree, so warm up your vocal chords.
PARKING: You do not need a car during the conference. Most events are in the conference hotel or walking distance, and transportation is provided for off-property outings. However, it you do have a car, please refer to the information below:
Parking at The Hyatt Regency DTC: Free parking is not available, but there are lots of spaces for attendee parking.
Valet Parking: Valet parking is available for $14/per day (excludes overnight) and $20 overnight.
Self-Parking: Self-Parking on property is available for $10 per day for conference attendees.
HIGH ALTITUDE TIPS: Visitors to Colorado are often surprised by the effects of being at a higher altitude. Please remember to drink plenty of water. For caregivers who may want to drink alcohol, please limit your alcohol intake. Eat foods high in Potassium. Monitor your physical activity.
