GENERAL CONFERENCE INFORMATION
CONFERENCE AGENDA: The 2017 conference officially begins with brunch on Friday morning, and ends on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM. Please see the 2017 Conference Agenda for details of the entire weekend. We strongly suggest that your travel plans permit you to attend all conference activities including the pre-conference Meet and Greet dinner on Thursday evening (6/22/2017), and also the Sunday morning peer session, as many past conference attendees have commented on how valuable this session is for them.
PEER GROUPS: If this is your first conference, you will notice that you will be assigned to a peer group that meets at various times throughout the weekend. These groups meet together to learn and share their knowledge and experiences. Whether you are a Teen PSCer, a Spouse, a Post-Transplant PSCer or if you are a Caregiver Coping with Loss and Carrying on the Spirit, there is a peer group for everyone.
MENTOR/MENTEE: If you are a first-time attendee (either a PSCer or a caregiver), we suggest that you request a mentor when you fill out your registration form. We will match you with a mentor who will be in your same peer group during the weekend. You will have the opportunity to communicate with your mentor before the conference and ask any questions you may have. During the brunch on Friday morning, you will have the opportunity to be introduced to your Mentor/Mentee if you haven’t already connected with them earlier.
TEEN PROGRAM: We have organized some specific activities for the teens and college-aged PSCers attending the conference, including a chaperoned outing just for this peer group. Once the teens and college-aged attendees register for the conference, we will send them (and their parents) an update with the weekend details.
ATTENDEES: The nature of all conference activities is exclusively directed towards PSC patients and caregivers 13 years of age and older. No one under the age of 13 may attend any part of the conference, including meals.
GO GREEN! Most of the weekend activities take place at the InterContinental Cleveland Hotel, located at 9801 Carnegie Avenue, Cleveland OH 44106. You will NOT need a car. Directions to the InterContinental are listed below. Attendees are responsible for their own transportation to and from the conference at the InterContinental. Airport taxi and Uber services are available.
TRANSPORTATION: There are several transportation options available in Cleveland that provide easy access by ground or air.
- Major Airport: Hopkins International Airport (CLE) is about 15 miles southeast of the hotel
- Taxi Charge from Hopkins to InterContinental (30 minutes one way): Approximately $40-$45
CONFERENCE CHECK-IN: There will be a PSC Partners registration desk in the InterContinental Hotel from Thursday morning (6/22/17) through Saturday afternoon (6/24/17) so that conference attendees can sign in early and pick up their information packets as soon as they arrive. Please wear your conference nametag to all events, including the Thursday evening get-together, so that we can get to know each other throughout the weekend.
PRE-CONFERENCE CASUAL DINNER ON THURSDAY, JUNE 22: We hope that you’ll consider arriving by Thursday evening to participate in our pre-conference get-together. This year the dinner will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the InterContinental Hotel. A festive Southwest menu will be served. The fees for this event, ($23 per person), are not included in your conference registration: tickets MUST be purchased in advance. Please purchase your tickets when you register for the conference. Conference attendees, particularly first time attendees, appreciate the opportunity to get acquainted with other PSCers and caregivers before our more formal educational schedule starts on Friday. We encourage you to come early, if possible!
Need a dinner ticket for Thursday evening? If you have already registered for the conference and would like to attend the Thursday evening dinner, you can purchase a ticket anytime before 06/09/2017 via our donation page and pay $23/ticket. Please be sure to tell us that the donation is for the dinner and who will be attending. We will send you a confirmation. To purchase your dinner ticket click HERE.
CLEVELAND CLINIC CONSULTATIONS AVAILABLE THURSDAY, JUNE 22: The 2017 conference is taking place at Cleveland Clinic’s main campus, which allows attendees convenient access to the Clinic’s specialists. Recognizing the significance of having such a large group of PSC patients and caregivers in such close proximity, Dr. K.V. Narayanan Menon, Medical Director of Liver Transplantation in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Cleveland Clinic, will be available to see PSC patients the afternoon of June 22nd. Click here for more information about scheduling an appointment with Dr. Menon and other Clinic specialists.
GET ACQUAINTED BRUNCH AT CLEVELAND BOTANICAL GARDEN: FRIDAY from 8:30am – 11:15am. The brunch will be held at the Cleveland Botanical Garden located at 11030 East Boulevard in University Circle, Cleveland. Please come mingle, munch and relax in the beautiful gardens and glass house.
The cost for the brunch and entrance to the gardens is included in the conference attendee registration fee. The event is the perfect time to meet with your peers and have the chance to make mentor/mentee connections if you haven’t already done so. Attendees may wish to walk to the brunch, as the Garden is approximately a 15 minute walk from the InterContinental Hotel. Buses will be available to transport registered attendees to the Cleveland Botanical Garden and back to the InterContinental Hotel in time for Friday afternoon sessions.
