Hello,
As many of you know, shortly after my son’s PSC and IBD diagnosis in 2006, my husband found PSC Partners via the Internet, and I was able to attend the 2nd Annual PSC Partners Conference. As with each of the annual conferences, the education, support, and camaraderie was exceptional and so helpful. I can’t count how many times I have said, “Finding PSC Partners and attending my first conference in 2006 was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
After I retired as a nurse practitioner, I was able to work full time over the past six years with PSC Partners and our wonderful community including those who have PSC, their families, as well as our dedicated researchers and clinicians, and industry partners searching for treatments and a cure. I can’t express how meaningful and rewarding it’s been to work with our community.
The 21st Annual Conference was amazing and exciting with so many new attendees, caring and supportive PSCers and family members, the expert researchers and clinicians, and informative and encouraging pharma sponsors. The Conference was so good, and I didn’t want any distractions. Now, it’s time to share my upcoming retirement so that I have more time for caregiving for my son.
PSC Partners understands and supports families. After a vacation in October, I’ll be moving into a senior advisory role for some of the PSC Partners key initiatives and programs such as community advocacy, health equity, building connections so no one feels alone, and the annual conference. As I focus on caregiving, I look forward to continuing to work with our community towards building a world where a PSC diagnosis comes with treatments and an eventual cure.
Thank you all for being part of my extended family, whom I love, trust, and value.
Joanne
